We live

Daily writing prompt
What is the last thing you learned?

Last night I wrote about a woman buying three slices of bologna. It was dark humor. I got paid more at my 1.5X state minimum wage job to cut the meat than it’s price. The woman got a core ingredient for 3 meals that could stave off hunger. 38 cents, from two perspectives.

A tough looking rail of a man walked by me at work yesterday wearing a jacket with the currently popular meme on the back, “Everyone is fighting a battle you don’t know about.”

This morning, I read a SM post written by a man I disagree with politically. He started the post with something like, “let’s put politics aside”, then listed his experiences. They ranged from seeing beauty and wonder, death and destruction, and hope and despair. He ended his post with, “I have lived.”

Our experiences are different, but we’ve all lived. We’ve had highs, we’ve had lows. Wherever I am inside my own trials and successes, it’s been reinforced in the past 24 hours that I need to keep things in perspective, as best I am able.
