When I was 5

Daily writing prompt
When you were five, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I remember walking down the hall towards my kindergarten class nearly 56 years ago. I remember our teacher taking kids into the closet to spank them.

If I ever thought of an occupation I’d probably have picked being a fireman. I had a firetruck kid cart when I was three. I remember going for a long (one block) ride in it once. I was determined.

Maybe I should have been a mechanic and opened my own place. My wife paid nearly 400 dollars today to have her valve cover gasket replaced. Highway robbery at its best.

      1. It can be double that price (in real Canadian dollars) because the cylinder hear is sideways (boxer engine) and hard to get at.

      2. I had one of the few AMC Concords that had a composite valve cover. Replacing the gasket was a no-win situation. Every year or so, I took off the valve cover and used blue silicone to seal it. I had to take the windshield wiper motor off to do this. It was a hassle but it was cheap to do. I drove that car a lot of miles. The speedometer stopped working at 70K miles, five or six years before I sold the beast.
