New job

I had an interview this morning. When I got there, I was told the HR person I was supposed to see had called in sick. I waited for someone to figure out what to do.

Twenty minutes later, the woman in administration that had initially greeted me asked if I’d brought a copy of my resume. I told her I could get one from my email account.

She asked for the telephone number of the recruiter that had connected me with the company instead. She contacted him and he sent her their version of my resume, my phone number and address were masked.

Soon afterward, a man came out to the lobby to get me, and we went into an empty office for the interview. He asked a few questions, I asked him a few more, he told me they had a couple of others to interview, and we parted ways.

I figured I’d botched the interview. My resume is admittedly weird: two advanced degrees, mid-level corporate managerial positions, high level technical positions, three years of nothing, then a bit under five years of mostly on but sometimes off (gaps in employment) retail.

I currently work at a deli, part time.

Two and a half hours after I got home the recruiter called and told me I was getting a job offer. I’ll accept it when it arrives. There are plusses and minuses to the position and the plusses win.

I’m sure I’ll write more about the job down the road. I won’t get into much detail though for obvious reasons.

I haven’t gotten my start date yet. It’ll probably be two weeks from Monday.
